METEPENAGIAG HERITAGE PARK

Red Bank NB    Spring 2007    1500 m2    4.5 M$

The mission of the Interpretation Centre is to reflect the abundance of the land, the resources of the river and the survival ingenuity of the Mi'kmaq nation.

The pathway will help the transition from the modern to the historic world. From the parking lot, it will bring the user thru the forest, thru the centre and onto the observation deck and the park trails.

The project adapts to its environment, like the community did for centuries. The built fabric is an analogy to the ancient Oxbow settlements along the river bank. In fact, the circulation axis runs along the stone wall on one side and the independent built units on the other, just like the winding river at the bottom of the cliff that runs thru villages once in a while.
